The city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, will be hosting the 9th World Recreational Fishing Conference (WRFC) that will take place from June 28 till July 2nd 2020.
During the previous
8th edition in Victoria, Canada, the Royal Dutch Angling Association
Sportvisserij Nederland, member of the European Anglers Alliance (EAA), was assigned to organise the 2020 edition of the World Recreational Fishing Conference.
This 9th edition will be hosted in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, and the Universities of Wageninigen and Nijmegen.
The World Recreational Fishing Conference, which is held every three years, is a one of its kind recreational fisheries devoted conference: a global gathering of the recreational fishing community, a unique opportunity for scientists, governments and angling organisations worldwide to meet and exchange knowledge on relevant topics for recreational fishing.
The central theme of this edition is: "
Recreational Fishing in a Changing World".
The programme - currently in the making - will include the following themes:
• Partnerships with other users of fishing waters;
• Ecological changes and recreational fishing;
• Societal relevance and acceptance of recreational fishing;
• Involving recreational fishing sector: citizen science.
It is possible to add additional topics around the central theme through an
online poll.
