In light of the upcoming June EU 2024 Elections, the European Anglers Alliance (EAA) has produced their elections leaflet to promote the Recreational Fisheries sector and our European Parliament Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment.
This leaflet serves as an important message from 25 million EU anglers to the renewed European Parliament after the June 2024 elections. With this leaflet, European anglers urge European legislators to include in the next European Parliament’s agenda the ambition to protect the aquatic environment, ensure a fair management of fisheries resources and support a sustainable prosper recreational fisheries sector in Europe. This as angling constitutes a high-value activity, supporting around 350.000 FTE jobs in the Union. It also encourages tourism in rural/remote areas and environmental work. All this with social and health benefits to anglers such as stress reduction and the feeling of being outdoors.
With our leaflet, the European Anglers Alliance also sheds light to the
European Parliament Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment - a cross-party discussion platform – which serves as an important tool to improve the contact between Members of the European Parliament and their angling constituents as well as providing policymakers with high-level expertise and scientific knowledge on recreational fisheries related issues.
During the past EU parliamentary mandate (2019-2024) our RecFishing Forum has organised 9 events in the European Parliament with over 340 participants and more than 110 MEPs involved.
